Based on a nationwide vote, the 2013 National Tournament Public Forum topic is Resolved: The benefits of American drone strikes against foreign targets outweigh the harms. A total of 377 schools voted for the National Tournament resolution. The winning resolution received 71% of the vote. Voting concludes Tuesday, April 30, at 4 p.m. CDT. The TOPIC AREA for the National Tournament is "American Drone Use." The two resolutions from which chapter advisors may choose are as follows:
Resolved: When they conflict, government protection of civil liberties should be prioritized over domestic drone use by law enforcement agencies within the United States.
Resolved: The benefits of American drone strikes against foreign targets outweigh the harms.
The winning resolution will be announced May 1, 2013.
